Brian Faulkner, 47, of Holden, Maine died Thursday, March 17, 2016 from complications as a result of a recent cancer diagnosis, less than seven months after the passing of his oldest brother, Bruce.
He was born October 28, 1968, to Reginald and Claudette Faulkner. He attended Brewer schools where he excelled at drafting and design which would become lifelong passions. He began working as a teenager at the companies his father founded, R.D. Faulkner Corporation and Faulkner Leasing, and became an integral part of the success of both companies.
He filled many critical roles in the businesses and was always ready to jump in, roll up his sleeves and get to work. Customers and vendors from around the country enjoyed Brian’s warm personality, vast knowledge of the business and clever sense of humor.
Brian was a devoted, caring and thoughtful partner, son, brother, and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a quiet and gentle spirit with enormous strength, courage, conviction, and compassion.
He had a lifelong interest in woodworking and was an exceptional craftsman. He loved to design and build everything from simple furniture, handmade canoes and boats to complicated houses. Brian could build or repair anything and people relied upon his keen engineering skills to troubleshoot a challenging project which he solved with ease.
There were many places and things that brought joy to his life but perhaps none more than his home, which he spent thousands of hours customizing, and the beautiful fields and woods surrounding it. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being in the woods, on the lake or in the mountains during any season cutting wood, fishing or riding the trails.
He cherished the time he spent with his fiancée, Sharon Norris, and her grandchildren, Alex and Elise, whom he enjoyed sharing the places and things that meant so much to him during his own childhood including fishing and boat rides on Green Lake as well as building sand castles, enjoying Pier French Fries and searching for the best clams and clam cakes in Old Orchard Beach and Pine Point.
He felt a strong connection to his Gray ancestors, for which he was named, and the role they played in Maine history. He was a longtime member of the Sons of the American Revolution through his Gray relatives who served in the Revolutionary War.
Brian loved to be surrounded by his family, for whom his devotion was second to none. Predeceased by his beloved mother, Claudette, brother, Bruce, maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lorraine Loranger, paternal grandparents, Douglas and Helen Faulkner, his aunts Constance Verrier and Sandra Faulkner, an influential and special uncle, John Faulkner and a master carpenter mentor, Paul Brooks.
Brian is survived by his partner Sharon Norris of Holden, father, Reginald of Brewer, sister, Cynthia of Portland, brother, David of Holden, a special aunt, Gloria Faulkner of Eddington, Kevin Martin, a lifelong friend whom he thought of as a brother, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A private interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor with the Reverend Dr. James L. Haddix officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 5-7pm Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
