Auburn and Brewer - Bruce C. Anderson, 82, passed away May 29, 2024 at a Bangor Nursing Home. He was born February 10, 1942 in Lewiston, ME, the son of Henry and Winifred (Coburn) Anderson, and the first of their two children.

Bruce graduated from Edward Little High School (Auburn, ME) in 1960. He graduated from Gorham College (now University of Southern Maine) in 1964 with a BS degree in Education, followed by his Physical Education Certificate from the University of Maine at Orono in 1965. Bruce started his career as a Physical Education teacher at the Weatherbee School in Hampden and, later, as the Physical Education teacher at Garland Street Junior High (now William S. Cohen School) in Bangor. In addition to coaching sports, Bruce was a three-way sports official, Football, Basketball, and Baseball, traveling throughout Maine to cover high school games for many years. In his retirement, he supervised student teachers, radio commentary for high school basketball games, and a driver for Hertz.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by daughter; Kathy (1991); father-in-law, Fred W. Bean. He is survived by his wife, Janice; son, David Anderson and his wife, Joyce, of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Kathryn “Katie” of Providence, RI, and Colleen of Austin, TX; his sister, Sally Deihl; and several siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Ross Manor and Northern Light Hospice. A special thanks to Chaplain David Gardiner for his care and compassion.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, ME.
