Bruce Hazen Smith, 65, passed away November 24, 2013, at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born May 19, 1948, in Bangor the son of Lloyd H. and Evelyn P. Smith.

Bruce graduated from Hampden Academy in the Class of 1966. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Bruce worked the past 14 years at Maine Trailer where he enjoyed working with all his coworkers. He had great fun riding his motorcycle. Bruce enjoyed going with his wife to Acadia National Park to watch the sunrise. More than anything Bruce loved his family and times with his granddaughters. It is appropriate that Bruce went to God this Thanksgiving week because he was always so thankful for so many things. He was grateful to his sons and his daughters-in-law for all their help, especially the last two months. He was grateful for all the visits from family and friends. He was grateful to Rod Hathaway and all his wonderful co-workers at Maine Trailer. He was grateful to Rev. Roland Nadeau and his God parents, the Knapps. He was grateful to St. Joseph Hospice Care. Lastly, he was grateful to God who loves him, and Bruce loves you all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janice (Martin) Smith; four sons, Michael Smith and wife Annathea of Sugarland, TX, Shane Smith and wife Megan of Poway, CA, Jesse Smith and wife Sabrina of Ellsworth, and Joseph P. Smith of Kenduskeag; five granddaughters, Lucia, Abrielle, Kendall, Grayson, and Ashlynn; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Greg Smith.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-10:30 AM, Friday, December 6, 2013, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. Gifts in his memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, ME 04401.
