Caliope Kesaris

BANGOR - Caliope M. "Callie" Kesaris, 95, passed away peacefully February 22, 2025. She was born October 20, 1929, in Bangor, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Mourkas.

Callie attended Bangor schools and graduated from Oak Grove School, Class of 1948. Shortly after, she attended Colby Junior College, New London, New Hampshire and Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Callie was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Bangor and served her community in several capacities; as President and board member of the Philoptochos, a member of the Junior League of Bangor, board member of the YWCA, Bangor Salvation Army and the Bangor Symphony.

Callie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family and loved spending time with them on the holidays. She loved her home on Clyde Rd., Bangor and spending time on their boat, "Calypso", in Northeast Harbor for many years.

In addition to her parents, Callie was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Nicholas Kesaris. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Kesaris Jr. and his wife, Susan; daughter, Diane Sprague and her husband, Harvey; grandsons, Timothy N. Johnson, Nicholas N. Kesaris III, all of Bangor; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas D. Mourkas and his wife, Martha, and nephew, Thomas Mourkas, of Arizona and a cousin, Cathy Nelligan Laidman.

At the family's request, a private interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
