Carol Ann (Rainey) Johnson, 71, of Prospect, Maine, passed away July 29th, 2024. She was born April 2nd, 1953, in Bangor, the daughter of Thornton and Avis (Perry) Rainey.
Carol graduated from Bucksport High School. She went on to become a major volunteer in the Bucksport School system, working with children with special needs, school dances, fund raising, working with the band and as being an officer in the PTA. Carol was a founding member of the Prospect Historical Society and a member of the Prospect Community Club. Most of all she was a loving mother of three, taking care of her family and was known to be a great cook. She was also big into genealogy, this love brought 130 family members, spanning 4 generations, together many times and included trips to Canada, England, Scotland, Plymouth, MA, and Northern Ireland to do genealogy research. Carol enjoying spending quality time with all family members and hosted many Thanksgivings, Christmases, Weddings, and celebrations for family no matter how distant.
Carol is survived by her husband, Donald Johnson; her son, Eric Johnson and wife, Ali, their children; Tyler and wife, Sarah, Nicholas and wife, Chyanne, their daughter, Penelope, Zoey, his step children, Nathan and wife, Logan, Kasey and wife, Tori, their children, Alice and Owen, Caleb and wife, Emma; her son, Kenneth D. Johnson and wife, Angela and their children, Liam and Fiona; her siblings, James Rainey and wife, Tammy, and their children, Karen Rainey Keniston and husband Clyde and their children, John Rainey and wife, Molli and their children, and Jeff Rainey and wife, Marsha and their children. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Brian T. Johnson.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 10-11AM, Monday, August 5th, 2024, with a service to follow at 11AM with Rev. Peter Remick officiating, at Hampden Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Prospect.
