BANGOR - Carol Ada (Craig) Paulding, 85, peacefully entered heaven on June 28, 2023 with her family by her side.
Carol was born in Houlton, ME on October 29, 1937 to Vurnyer & Doris Craig of Brookton, ME. She was the youngest of six children. Carol graduated from Lee Academy in 1956 and in 1958 graduated from Beverly Hospital School of Nursing in Beverly, MA as an LPN. She met her husband in Boston on a blind date and in 1959 they married. Carol spent numerous years as a Navy wife making every home where she was stationed special.
Many of those years she would call CA, VA, MA, FL, and HI her home.
Carol was the most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She also was a loving and caring nurse and worked several nursing jobs over the years. She and Walter were caretakers of a couple of yachts in FL.
Later they built their dream home for retirement in Brookton, ME and lived there for many years while also wintering in FL. After selling their home in Brookton they purchased a home in Summerville SC that she was very fond of that was also near extended family and friends.
Carol loved to decorate, cook, and entertain. She was well known for her famous carrot cake which was always requested by everyone.
Carol was predeceased by her parents Vurnyer and Doris Craig and siblings, George Craig, Roger Craig, Inez Stubbs, Sherwood Craig, and Alberta Hayman. She was the last of the original Craig family.
Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter I. Paulding; two daughters, Robin Stevens and her husband, Dale and daughter, Sherry Dow; grandchildren, Dustin Dow, Dalanie Grinnell, Connor, Andrea, Josh, and Angela Stevens also three great grandchildren, Addyson and Camden Dow and Makenzie Grinnell.
