Carolyn Dresser

January 21, 1929 — November 18, 2022

BUCKSPORT – Carolyn Dresser, 93, died November 18, 2022 at a Bangor Hospital. She was born January 21, 1929 in Bangor, the daughter of George I and Myrtle (Cook) Nickerson.

Carolyn was a graduate of Bangor High School and worked as a secretary for Bangor Drug Company while running a horse and pony farm. Her passion was horses. When she was 6 years old, she made a promise to God that she would always be kind to animals if he would
give her a horse. The horse came in the form of an old work horse named Charlie on her grandparents’ farm. Kay kept her promise to God and spent most of her life rescuing all animals large and small. She and her husband, Ken Dresser, managed the family farm and when he passed on, she continued on with the help of family. In her later years the animals got smaller but her passion for being kind to all animals continued until her death. She was everyone's Grammie and you were loved unconditionally and could be yourself around her. Her favorite pastimes were watching football and horse racing, whether it be Tom Brady, The Kentucky Derby, or just eating her lunch on the rail at Bass Park watching the drivers jog the horses. She was blessed to have her family and her family was blessed to have her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ken Dresser, Carolyn was predeceased by her sister, Natalie Wolverton, her half-brother, Stephen Nickerson; stepson, Ben Dresser; step-daughter, Ellen (Dresser) Holyoke and a grandson, Chris Holyoke. She is survived by her son, Scott Hoskins and his wife, Sandra of Bucksport; grandchildren, Joshua Hoskins and his wife, Valerie, Ashley Hoskins and partner, Collin Grady, Melanie Dresser, Amy Dresser, Jeremy Dresser, Parker Dresser, Jamie Holyoke and his wife, Erin, Jesse Holyoke and his wife, Lindsay, and Nathan Holyoke and his wife, Oliva; great grandchildren, Aly and Lily Hoskins, Tuckerman Grady, Francesca Vidal, Beckett Dresser, Trentyn, Gavin, Samuel, Ayda, Mason, Emma, Kennedy and Jackson; nephew, Roger Wolverton; niece, Jennifer Mangels; special family members, Crystal Pineau and Robin Holyoke; many more family and friends.
