Hampden - Carolyn (Moores) Perry, 92, passed away November 22, 2024, after a short illness at home with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1932, in Monroe, the daughter of Ralph W. Sr. and Alice E. (Moody) Moores.
Carolyn grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. She attended Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island attaining a certificate in business. She moved to Boston and worked there for a brief time, then moved to Bangor, where she met Jack Perry Jr. They met on a blind date at her friend's apartment, Marion Levesque. Jack loved Carolyn very deeply, so much he would hitchhike home from Virigina on his weekends off from the Naval Service just to see her. They married on February 27, 1954, and were happily married for 70 years.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jack Perry Jr.; her five daughters, Robin, Kathryn, Regina, Joanne, and Bonnie; sister, Charlene and her husband, Ralph Hammond; brother-in-law, Edward Holland; grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, Jordan, Katy Jane, and Christopher; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia; grandson, Nick; her brothers, Ralph Moores and Eugene Moores; and her sister, Mary Holland.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cheryle Nelson and Holly Drew for all their care and support during Carolyn's time at home. They provided excellent in-home care and helped the family get through a difficult time.
A Mass of Christian burial outside of Mass will be held 9 a.m. November 27, 2024, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, ME 04444, followed by the Right of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor, ME 04401. A reception will be held following the services at David Higgin's home, 304 Old County Rd., Hampden, ME 04444.
