Carolyn Rose Veilleux passed from this earth on 8/31/23 and heaven gained a beautiful angel. Carolyn Rose was born on 2/27/32. She was the daughter of Rose Mcpherson and Leon Mcpherson.
Carolyn was born in Brewer Maine and eventually moved to Bangor where she worked for New England Telephone, married, and raised her family there.
Carolyn was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, mother-in-law and flourished in each of these roles. She loved her family deeply, sometimes worrying a bit more than we would have liked, but always allowing us to feel loved and cherished.
From a young age, Carolyn had a zest and love for life and people, evident in the many friends she gathered along her journey. She had a wonderful ability to listen to others and remember their stories and to show genuine interest in them. This ability endeared many people to her. She had a good sense of humor and could bring others to laughter often.
Carolyn lived through many difficult times but one of the greatest gifts she showed her family was the ability to rise from the ashes and keep moving, loving, laughing and living life. She enjoyed new experiences and to travel and was a great storyteller and could entertain her friends and family with stories of the past and present, sometimes a little embellished, but always with love and humor and interest in the person she was sharing them with.
Carolyn moved to the Country Villa in Bangor 5 ½ years ago, 5 years after the death of her husband, Alfred Veilleux, who she was married to for 61 years. Being a people person, the loss of her husband created a yearning for a more social life. She knew from the moment she moved to this new residence that this place was her home. She loved the “Villa” and all the staff who supported her and the other residents she communed with. She experienced much joy in her new life there, much to the delight of her family. The staff cared deeply for her as she did them. So much gratitude to the Country Villa for providing such an amazing experience and home for our beloved family member in the last years of her life.
Carolyn’s final 8 days of her life were spent in the care of Marlene Walker with Total Care Solutions in Holden, Me. Marlene was an angel in the assistance she provided Carolyn at such an important time in her life, those final moments. Carolyn was able to experience her last days, with attentive care of her body, mind and spirit. This care allowed her family to just enjoy these days with her and as she eased her way back to heaven. We are deeply grateful to Marlene for this beautiful gift she gave to our family.
Thank you to Gentiva Hospice for also assisting with the care of Carolyn in her final days and providing needed updates to her family.
Carolyn is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Alfred Veilleux, 5 siblings, beloved son Jeffrey Veilleux, and many friends. She is survived by 3 children, Gregory Veilleux of Bar Harbor and his wife Julie, Rosemary Veilleux of Port Ludlow WA, and Stephen Veilleux of Mukilteo, WA, and Marilynn Veilleux of Wake Forest, North Carolina (wife of Jeffrey Veilleux); her grandchildren, Andrew Veilleux of Freeport Maine, and his wife Julia, Stephanie Veilleux of Portland Maine, Zachary Veilleux of Poland Maine and his wife Justine, and Travis Veilleux of Wake Forest, North Carolina and his wife Meredith; several nieces and nephews including Sheila Arnone of Olymphant, PA and her husband Steve, and Kenny Marhevka of Peckville, PA and his wife Mary; and several other great nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
