Carroll Lee

BREWER - Carroll Russell Lee passed away at his Brewer home on January 11, 2022. The Houlton native, son of Delma Mae Lee and Earl Charles Lee, was born on May 23, 1949. He was well known for his athletic abilities, excelling at high school baseball and basketball for the Houlton Shiretowners in the late 60s. He graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, with master's degrees in electrical engineering and business, and began working at Bangor Hydro Electric Co., completing his 32-year career as President and Chief Operating Officer. He also served on various boards of directors locally, including the University of Maine Foundation, Community Health and Counseling Services in Bangor, and the Ellen M. Leach Memorial Home in Brewer. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gail Irene Lee of Brewer, and their children, Jessica Lee-Small of Brewer, Laura Eaton of Brewer, and Andrew Lee and his wife, Nicole Lee, of Old Town; grandchildren, Hunter and Evan Small of Brewer, Shane and Macy Eaton of Brewer, and Max Lee of Old Town; brother, Wayne Lee and wife, Chris, of Houlton, sister-in-law, Jennie Lee of Houlton, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Phillip Lee of Houlton and Robert Lee of Waterville. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Brookings Smith Funeral Home, 133 Center St., Bangor, with funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Carroll R. Lee Scholarship Fund at the University of Maine Foundation, Two Alumni Place, Orono, ME 04469-5792.
