Catherine Witham

HERMON – Catherine J. (Smith) Witham, 71, went to meet her Lord and Savior August 20, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 4, 1947, in Burlington, Colorado, the daughter of Woodrow E. and Mary M. (Jones) Smith. Cathy graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, she graduated from the New Brunswick Bible Institute, Class of 1968. Cathy married Arthur R. Witham on January 9, 1970, and together shared almost 50 years of marriage. She was a longtime member of the Hermon Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Cathy was also active in her community volunteering over 30 years with the Hermon Rescue Squad, Hermon Fire Department, and Capital Ambulance. Cathy loved to sing, paint, and make quilts and crafts. In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by a step-brother, Larry E. Smith. She is survived by her husband, Arthur R. Witham of Hermon; a daughter, Kimberly A. Drew and husband, Rick of Hermon; a son, Timothy R. Witham and wife, Lena of Hermon; one precious granddaughter, Charlotte Rose; a sister, Barbara Smith Almeter and husband, Jim of Bradenton, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10-11 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., with Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor, officiating. All are welcome to an ice cream social where conversation and refreshments will be shared in the church hall, immediately following the service.
