HERMON – Celia C. (Overlock) Beckwith, 84, went home to her Savior on January 23, 2017, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born October 8, 1932, in Hermon, the daughter of Norman and Bertha (Pomeroy) Overlock.
Celia was a member of South Levant Baptist Church, where she was very active. She loved spending time with her family. Celia enjoyed being part of the Red Hat Society. She was a very loving and giving woman. Celia will be greatly missed by her little 4-legged companion, Buffy.
Celia is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Elwood “Woody” Beckwith; son, Edward Darcy; daughter, Doreen and her children Eli and Melissa of Arizona; brothers, Beverly Overlock and wife Pat of Hermon, Charles Overlock and wife Kathy of Hermon; sisters, Geraldine Ognan of Florida, Jeanette Farrar and husband Bob of Hermon, Gloria Spencer and husband Chuck of Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Barbara Beckwith of Hermon, and several, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Leo and Perley Overlock; sisters, Eleanor Toth and Jennie Sylvester.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM, Friday, January 27, 2016, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of the Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Relative and friends are invited to call 10 AM until time of service Friday. The family invites relative and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
