Celia Rockhill

June 2, 1928 — February 17, 2014

BANGOR - Celia L. Rockhill, 85, went home to be with the Lord, February 17, 2014, after a short illness. She was born June 2, 1928, in Bangor at the Home Hospital on Essex Street. She was the daughter of Harold and Mary (MacDougall) Banton.
She was a graduate of Bangor High School and active in sports. She was employed by the Maine Department of Unemployment Insurance from December 1969 to June 1990. She was a member of Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church for many years, first attending there in 1965. She was a longtime supporter and former Board member of the First Step Pregnancy Resource Center in Bangor. Family was very important to her.
Celia is survived by a sister, Madeleine Brown of Bangor, son Eric Rockhill and wife Loretta of Glenburn, daughter, Dawn Good and husband Terry of Bangor; grandchildren, Drew Simpson and wife Sarah, Erica Masters and husband Cameron, Linda Shockley and husband Keith, Amanda Knauer and husband Josh, and Dianna Rockhill; three great grandchildren, Madysen, Alice and Fletcher Simpson.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 375 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, with the Rev. Russell Hamilton, officiating. Interment will be private for the family following the service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshment at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 S.
