Bangor – Charlene Bertha (Smart) Spellman, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born March 21, 1939, in Bangor, the daughter of Raymond A. and Edna (Rowe) Smart.
Charlene graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1958. She was employed for many years at Standard Electric of Bangor. Charlene enjoyed walking, camping, and spending winters in Florida.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was predeceased by a son, Raymond Hamel. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard P. Spellman, of Bangor; a son, Lonny Hamel, of Arizona; 2 stepsons, Terry Spellman, of Massachusetts and David Spellman of Brewer; a sister, Becky Libby and husband David, of Brewer; a niece, Heidi Libby of Bangor; and a nephew, Chris Libby of Orrington.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at New Hope Hospice; and to the staff at Winterberry Heights for their loving care of Charlene.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
