Charles I. Overlock, 80, went home to his Savior on December 21, 2018, peaceful at his home, with his wife, daughter and grandchildren by his side, after a long battle of dementia. He was born November 28, 1938, in Hermon, the son of Norman and Bertha (Pomeroy) Overlock.
Charlie was a member of Hermon Baptist Church. In his younger years, Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed feeding his birds and watching the different ones come to feed. Charlie will be greatly missed by his little 4-legged companion, Bentley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Leo and Perley Overlock; sisters, Eleanor Toth, Jennie Sylvester and Celia Beckwith. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, that took care of him until the end, Kathy; daughter, Lisa Yoder; granddaughter, Sarah Charrier and husband, Dustin; grandson, Joshua Yoder; great-grandson, Anderson Charrier, who loved his Papa; brother, Beverly Overlock and wife Pat of Hermon; sisters, Geraldine Ognan of Florida, Jeanette Farrar and husband, Bob of Hermon, Gloria Spencer and husband, Chuck of Massachusetts; brother-in-laws, Woody Beckwith of Hermon, Larry Smith and companion, Donna Fletcher of Corinth, David Smith and wife, Diana of Florida, Matt Smith and companion, Arline Emerson of Hermon; special great-niece, Claira, who loved her Papa very much; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday December 29, 2018, at the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor, officiating. Relative and friends are invited to call from 10 am until time of service. The family invites relative and friends to share in conversation and refreshments in Church fellowship hall, immediately following the service. Those who wish to remember Charlie in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Anah Shrine Center, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, Maine 04401.
