Charles Plummer

November 1, 1930 — January 12, 2014

EDDINGTON – Charles J. Plummer, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home. He was born November 1, 1930, in Portage, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank and Dorothy “Doris” (Sargent) Plummer. Charles lived in Pennsylvania until he was five at which time their family moved to Maine. He graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the Maine Air National Guard as well as the U.S. Air Force in weather service. He worked as a civil engineer for James Sewall Co., for the city of Old Town, and after many happy years, retired from Civil Engineering Services in Brewer. Charles was very active in his community and served for many years as first selectman and as a tax assessor for the town of Eddington. He loved politics, bowling, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, camping and hiking. He and his wife Jane also made three trips to Alaska by automobile and saw much of Canada as well. He is survived by his wife of sixty three years Jane (Holden) Plummer of Eddington, four children, Ronald E. Plummer of Eddington, William “Billy” Holden of Brewer, Richard “Rich” Holden of Carmel, Susan Pezzuti and her husband Jeff, and a grandson Nicholas Pezzuti all of Wallingford, Connecticut. He also leaves behind a brother William “Billy” Plummer of Sidney, Nebraska, two sisters, Emily Newton of Oxford Massachusetts, Dottie Ann Hamm and her husband Phil of Bangor, a special niece and nephew Filene and Chuck Spencer and their children, Brad of North Waterboro, Jamie of Bangor as well as their families, a niece Robin Tardy and her husband Jim of LaGrange and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert “Red” Plummer and Richard “Dickie” Plummer. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
