BANGOR - Christa Foster, 76, passed away peacefully April 27, 2024, at a local healthcare facility, from dementia. She was born February 15, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Wilhelm and Herta (Euler) Jankowiak.
Christa became a nurse in Germany and in 1970, came to the U.S. where she had a distinguished career in healthcare ultimately, specializing as a cardiac nurse. Thanks to her long relationship with Mark David Kaplan, she became a dedicated and loving mother to her stepson, Michael, whom she parented faithfully and deeply for the rest of her life. Following her divorce from Mark, she met Philip Foster, the love of her life. They were married in 2005 and together until Phil's passing in 2008. Their years together were the shining light of her life.
Surviving Christa, are her stepson, Michael; sisters, Rita and Ingrid, brother, Klaus and his wife, Ilse; nieces, Madelaine and Jasmin; grandchildren, Elijah, River, Georgia and Skye; great nieces, Gina-Marie, Alina, Pauline, Romy, Mara & great nephew, Maximilian as well as Philip’s family; sons, Michael and Mathew, and granddaughter, Aliza.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. James Nutter, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, following the service.
