Christine D. Erickson, 75, died October 20, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 2, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph A. Monrotus and Dolores E. Whelan Lennox.
Christine will be remembered for her work with the Acadia Repertory Theatre, the Penobscot Theatre Company, and as the Children’s-Young Adult Librarian of the Bangor Public Library. Christine thought of Bangor as home, spending more than 40 years as an active member of the community. She was an avid reader and loved going out for breakfast. Most mornings you could find her at Governor’s Restaurant with a book and a cup of coffee. Following her retirement in 2021, she moved to Virginia to live with her son and his family.
She lives on in the hearts of her son Benjamin Erickson and his wife Paula, of Fishersville, VA; daughter Samantha Erickson, of Bangor; grandchildren Jonathan and Fiona; sister Kathleen Harris, of South Portland; sister JoAnn Smith, of Deland, FL; cousins Jen Lane and Joan Kuhn, of St. Louis, MO; nephews Nicholas Harris, Gregory Smith, and Douglas Smith; niece Kathryn Swayze. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, John Erickson.
Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Committal with Final Commendation will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, October 27, 2023, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at 10:45 AM, Friday, at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street Entrance, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: www.pancan.org.
