Clarice H. Dort, 91, passed away on February 9, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 4, 1929, in Levant the daughter of Harold C. and Carrie A. (Brickett) Marden.
Clarice was a member of the Kenduskeag Union Church for many years. She was a talented seamstress and she worked at several ladies boutiques. Clarice was an avid quilter and knitter. She made lap quilts and other items for the Hospital Chaplaincy Service, quilts for the Project Linus and she gave out mittens at Halloween. Clarice was a talented artist in any medium be it fabric, wool, paint or her flowers and vegetables. Her very best creation was her family. She was a wonderful and caring mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years Louis who died in 2018; a son, Robert; her sister, Helen, and two brothers Harold and Errol. She is survived by her children, Richard Dort, daughter, Kathryn Griffith and husband Don, son, Brian Dort and wife Cheryl, and daughter-in-law, Ida Dort. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard and wife Abigayle (their children, Wally, Matilda, and Richy) Emily, Nicole and husband Kris (their children, Keagan and Gavin), Molly and husband Nick, and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Janice and Carol for their loving care and support of Clarice so she could stay in her family home.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Pastor Stan Griffin of Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. Friends and family may gather with the family from 1:00 PM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Clarice’s memory may be made to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
