Connie Bridge

August 3, 1938 — October 28, 2017

Corrine (Rigby) (Butler) Bridge, 79, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Connie was born in Keene, NH on August 3, 1938, the daughter of Jennie (Putnam) Rigby and Lloyd Rigby.

Connie was a 1957 graduate of Patten Academy and had just attended her 60th class reunion. She grew up playing on Mt. Chase where her Dad was the fire warden on the tower. Her passion for cooking was her livelihood at Gladys Restaurant, Searsport in the 60’s, at Killarneys @ the Holiday Inn, Bangor in the 70’s and finally at Debbie’s in Rockwood, Maine. For 10 years, as gatekeeper of the North Maine Woods, many sportsman & nature lovers stopped to sign in with Connie on their way to the wilderness. She loved living with her husband Burrill Bridge at Caucomgomoc Lake, where he was an active forest ranger. After, during the years she & Burrill lived in Rockwood at Moosehead Lake, she continued to feed the birds, enjoy the wildlife, and cook for all who visited. Connie’s passion for cooking, live music, bowling, birds, flowers, pets and people was lifelong. For the last three years she and her Shih Tzu-Pug Babe split their time between Falmouth, Maine and Davidson, NC.

Connie is survived by her children, Lynn Foley of Falmouth and Ken Butler of Davidson, NC, her step-children, Brent Bridge and wife Laurie, Jeff Bridge and Carrie Bridge Morrison of Hermon, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two sisters, Christine Cote and husband Ron of Blue Hill, and Jeanne Kerns and husband Gary of Topsham. Her five grandchildren and her little dog “Babe” were the treasures of her life: Daniel Butler, Katie Butler, Ben Foley, Rebecca Foley and Taylor J. Morrison.

Connie’s family invites you to celebrate her life on Weds. Dec 27th from Noon to 4pm at her daughter’s home at 14 Stonewall Way, Falmouth, Maine. Stories will be welcomed, refreshments will be offered, and little dog Babe will be available for hugs. In keeping with Connie’s love of nature, please make donations in her memory to The Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park, PO BOX 1231, Gray, ME 04039.
