EDDINGTON, Constance Jessica Eye “Connie”, age 58, died at her home in Eddington, Maine on September 7, 2015. She was born on September 6, 1957 in Bangor, Maine, daughter of Ralph Farnham Winslow Eye and Patricia (Micue) Eye.
She is survived by her mother Pat Eye of Eddington, her sister, Patience Winslow Eye of Brewer, her brother, John Winslow Eye of Eddington and three treasured nieces, Jennie Eye Burnett Fischer of Burbank, California, Hope Elizabeth Eye of Brewer and Grace Jessica Eye of Orono. Connie is predeceased by her brother Lance Farnham Eye and her father, Ralph FW Eye.
Connie attended schools in Salem, NH, Rangoon Burma, Saigon Viet Nam, Geneva, Switzerland and graduated high school from Joint Embassy School in Jakarta, Indonesia. She attended the University of Maine in Orono and graduated in 1981 Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Anthropology. She was invited for lifetime membership into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society as well as the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She attended graduated school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA for the next 3 years studying Anthropology and Sociology. On her return to Bangor, she worked for a time at Northeast Reprographics where her work included archival preservation of documents from libraries in the State of Maine. She loved this work. In 1994, Connie was very much a part of the founding of New Hope Hospice with her mother, Pat Eye and friend Nancy Burgess. She devoted the next 22 years of her life to the work of hospice. Connie was a very private individual who spent her life tending to the wellbeing of others, be they her adored animals, her family and friends, hospice volunteers (who she directed) and the patients and families of New Hope Hospice. She graced all with her quiet presence, quick wit, hearty laugh and loyal affection. Hers was a generous spirit. In recent months when Connie confronted the sudden intrusion of cancer into her life, this spirit showed itself to also be an extraordinary brave one. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her including her spunky little canine mascot Buffy. She will be lovingly remembered by special aunts and uncles and cousins and dear friends Jill and Bert Lambert. The family wishes to thank New Hope Hospice, nurse Debbie Demaso and the love, care and devotion she received under the directorship of Christii Maquillan, R.N. for whom there is undying gratitude. Also sincere thanks to Theresa Hainer,N.P. at St. Joseph Internal Medicine.
