Constance Kelsey

March 4, 1935 — May 3, 2019

BANGOR - Constance Janet Kelsey, “Connie”, 84, wife of the late John M Kelsey, passed peacefully in her sleep May 3, 2019 surrounded by close friends and family after losing her battle with cancer. She was born March 4, 1935 in Bangor, daughter of Albert and Ida (Cohen) Schiro.
Connie graduated Bangor High class of 1953, and attended Boston University
Connie spent almost all of her life in Bangor and was very involved in many civic organizations. She was a volunteer at United Cerebral Palsy, American Folk Festival, Phillip- Strickland retirement home, and long- time volunteer at St Joseph Hospital, volunteering for a record 42 years and became the recipient of the Mother Mary Angela award. Connie was also a very Active member of Beth Israel Synagogue.
Connie and Jack were avid fans of University of Maine Women’s basketball team. They were also great fans of University of Maine Men’s basketball and hockey.
Connie is survived by two sons, Daniel Kelsey and wife, Judy of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Richard Kelsey and wife, Gail of Bedford, NY.; five grandchildren, Rebecca and husband, Jeffrey Lieberman, Hannah Kelsey, Jessica and husband, Dan Khasin, Samantha and husband, Lee Nussbaum, and Douglas Kelsey; one brother, Lawrence Schiro and wife, Rachel; niece, Susan Schiro and husband, James Hatch, along with nephew, Jeffrey Schiro. The Kelsey family would also like to mention and give thanks to Jeffrey Crawford who had a special place in both Jack and Connie’s hearts.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Northern Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center. The family would also like to acknowledge the unbelievable care, compassion support and warmth given to them from everyone at Ross Manor and Beacon Hospice.
A funeral service will be held 11am, Sunday May 5, 2019 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor. Following Interment the family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments from 1:30 to 4:30 at the Tarratine Club, 81 Park Street, Bangor. The family will also be receiving guests at their home, 115 Juniper St, Bangor, from 7 to 9 pm on Sunday evening and on Monday from 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 7 to 9pm.
