Corinne Trafton

March 9, 1934 — May 28, 2017

ALTON – Corinne Theresa “Cori” (Morin) Trafton, died peacefully May 28, 2017, at her home. Cori was born March 9, 1934, in Old Town, the daughter of Gerard and Gertrude (Porter) Morin. Cori met the love of her life, Maynard Jr., in 1947, and they were married July 15, 1950. If ever there was a true love, it was Maynard for Cori. Together, Cori and Maynard built their home in Alton, that Maynard designed, a place they loved more than anywhere. Cori’s sense of décor and design was a talking piece for all invited into her home. Cori and Maynard would travel the state to visit greenhouses to find new and unique plants for their magnificent gardens. Together, they started Bennoch Road Kennels, a business they ran for many years. They took a trip to New Hampshire each year, and spent their summers exploring the cost of Maine, with a special love for Belfast. She was a master gardener, an accomplished basket maker, and had a love for the Native American culture and her Mohawk ancestry. She and her daughter, Vivian, loved to attend Powwows throughout the State of Maine. She also studied Franco-American Gerontology and graduated from the University of Maine at Bangor. She enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything, especially the MadDog gathering trips to Katahdin. Cori was lovingly known as Meme to her five grandchildren, who she called the lights of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace Doucette, and her daughters, Allison and Meagan; her daughter, Vivian, and son-in-law, Ralph Cammack, and their daughter, Chenoa, and their son, Ralph III, and his wife Alyssa; her son, Maynard III, and his daughter, Jessi. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Colford, and her husband, Carroll; niece Leslie Suddy and her husband, Dennis, and their children, Buddy, and Dylan; and her close friend, Julia Sockebasin. Cori was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Maynard. Cori was also predeceased by her son, Stephen, and her son-in-law, John Doucette. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor.
