Hudson - Cory Grandmont, 47, joined his brother Paul in heaven on October 8, 2022. Cory lost his battle with colon cancer, surrounded by his loving family, shortly after being diagnosed.
Cory was born on May 16, 1975, he graduated from Brewer High School in 1993. He went into the Army as a Private First Class, where he served in Korea from 1993-96. Cory returned home and served 4 years in the Reserves. He earned the following badges: Overseas, Sharpshooter with Hand Grenade, Marksman M-16 and Air Assault. Cory then returned home and met the love of his life, his wife Lyn. He started work at US Blades in February 2000, where he was the machine shop supervisor. Cory was a kind and patient teacher and mentor to those with whom he worked.
When Cory was 7, he told his mom he would have a little girl someday and his wish came true when his precious Alyssa was born in 2013. Cory liked to volunteer with Telephone Pioneers, supporting the Special Olympics, along with his wife and daughter. The family enjoyed camping at their seasonal lot on the East Branch River in East Millinocket.
Cory had many special people in his life, including Jim Morrill, whom he thought of as a second father, and wife Denise; Joe Senter, a best friend and work buddy, and sons; Jay Alzerreca, best friend and adopted brother, and wife Amanda; Grant VanBeek whom he met in the Army and always stayed close with even though living far apart, and wife Jody and sons. Very special close friends and coworkers; Paula and Sandy Morrison, Willie Underwood, and son Junior, Jon and wife Roberta Gray, and all current, past, and retired employees at US Blades, Chris and Linda Royal, neighbors and camping buddies, Ryan Hamm, very close friend and body surfing partner. There wasn’t a food challenge they didn’t try.
There were many years of amazing camping memories with the Robinson Camping Crew, including great food, fireworks, lifeguard sessions, and we can’t forget Rambo! He had a very special bond with Nana Bates and he loved to make people laugh. He was always plotting his next prank and victim.
Cory enjoyed watching Sunday Football, while cheering for the Patriots. Fall was his favorite time of the year, always with a crockpot of food cooking, he was an exceptional cook and always prepared the holiday meals. Cory loved to fish, even when he was skunked many times, he loved teaching Gavin and Alyssa. He looked forward to vacations with his family each year at the ocean. He loved spending time with his brother James, when he was able to visit, including his sister Casey, always reminiscing their childhood stories. Cory enjoyed his visits with Gram and Gramp (Guy and Lilla Bossie) as a child in Patten. He always looked forward to the annual Bar Harbor family trip, eating his favorite food, lobster.
Cory is survived by his loving wife, Lyn; daughter, Alyssa; father, Jim; mother, Pearl (Bossie); brother, James, and his partner, Lisa Silvia; sister, Casey, and her fiancé, Ryan Hamm; nephew, Gavin; stepson, Brandon Ketchen; Mother-in-Law, Christine Daniels; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
