Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Horten, 59, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Schoodic Lake on November 24, 2016. She was born on March 26, 1957, in Houlton, the daughter of Helen Audrey (Lifford) Horten and Maurice Arnold Horton.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Al C. Belanger Jr.; her daughter, Nicole A. Pineo; her step-children Sean M. Belanger and Todd A Berlucchi; her sister, Judy E. Horten, her grandchildren, Sean, Jr., Alex, Autum, Kourtney, Alexis, and Gavin; and many friends and family. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Audrey (Lifford) Horten, her father, Maurice Arnold Horten, her brothers Gregory A. Horten and Rodney A, Horten, and her grandmother Lena (Porter) Lifford.
Cindy graduated from high school in 1975. She moved to New Hampshire after her graduation to pursue a career in food service with Deering Ice Cream. She later went on to complete her degree in Accounting. Cindy returned home to the Bangor area in 2002 and shortly after was employed as the Office Manager/Partner for TBA, Inc. In addition to her work with TBA, Cindy was an active supporter of many local charities.
Her family remembers her as a kind and generous person who lit up a room with her smile, encouraged others to live in the moment, to stay true to themselves and to trust their gut instinct. She had a huge heart and always had great words of wisdom for family, friends, and employees. Cindy loved the outdoors and being at camp with the love of her life. You could always find her working in the yard, burning brush, picking wild blueberries, enjoying the sunset, taking a relaxed ride on the boat, kayaking, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and enjoying the quiet moments. Cindy was an animal lover and had many cats and dogs over the course of her life. She was an avid skier from childhood. Cindy loved the theater and attended many performances in the greater Bangor area. She was loved by all who were blessed to know her. Cindy will be greatly missed and always remembered forever in our hearts.
