BANGOR – Dana J. Dorsey, 82, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side, March 4, 2023, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 13, 1940, in Easton, the son of Harold R. and Beulah M. (Keegan) Dorsey.
Dana grew up in Easton. He graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, he attended University of Maine, Presque Isle, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business. Dana was a proud veteran, serving in the US Army. In 1966, he met the love of his life, Sharon Devereaux. Shortly after, they were married in 1968, celebrating over 53 years of marriage until his passing. Dana spent all of his career as an insurance auditor with Commercial Union Insurance Company. He was a proud member of the Barber Shop Harmony Society for 50 years and a founding member of the Bangor Chapter, where he sang baritone. Music was a life-long passion and where he was surrounded by some of his dearest friends. After retirement he enjoyed his daily golf rounds at Bangor Municipal Golf Course with his golfing buddies. His grandchildren are what brought him the most joy out of life. He was their biggest cheerleader and always there for a hug.
Surviving Dana, in addition to his wife, Sharon, is his daughter, Amy (Dorsey) McNichols and her husband, Thomas, of Manchester, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Erin McNichols and her boyfriend, Drew Merrick, John McNichols, Owen McNichols, Anastasia Adams, and Nolan Adams, all of Manchester, New Hampshire; sisters, Joanne Crowley, of Stockton Springs, Patricia Dorsey, and Gloria Gordon, both of Bangor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, BethAnn (Dorsey) Adams.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, at a date and time to be announced in the spring.
