HOLDEN – Daniel M. “Danny” Gagnon, 68, passed away on September 13, 2019 at a Boston hospital after a 64 day battle with an immunosuppressive illness, with his wife by his side throughout. Danny was born on November 4, 1950 at home in Madawaska, the son of Lionel and Simone (Bouchard) Gagnon. Danny graduated from Madawaska High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UMO. In 1979, he met the love of his life, Gretchen Dyer. They were married on July 6, 1985, and together they raised three sons. Danny was employed at various jewelry stores. He eventually became a carpenter and built his family home where he lived for over 30 years. He finished his career as Maintenance Director at Stillwater Healthcare. Danny enjoyed skiing, golfing, and cribbage. However, his favorite passion was cooking and barbecuing for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Gagnon, Rina Marquis, and Margaret Pelletier; and his brothers, Gerard and Reno Gagnon. In addition to his loving wife, Gretchen, Danny is survived by his sons, Lionel “Lee” Gagnon of Bozeman, MT, Tyler Gagnon of Orlando, FL, and Colin Gagnon of Hampden; sisters, Claudette Lavoie, Priscilla Beaulieu and husband, Omer, and Ellen Manzer and husband, William; brothers, Ronald Gagnon and wife, Linda, and David Gagnon and wife, Nancy; mother-in-law, Kathleen Dyer; sisters-in-law, Susan Dyer, Patsy Gagnon, and Valerie Dawn and husband, Paul; brother-in-law, Reno Pelletier; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family invites relatives and friends to call 6 to 8 pm Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday, September 21, 2019, with Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, officiating. Entombment at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St, Bangor will follow the service.
