Newburgh - Danny Day, 83, passed away August 3, 2020 under the loving care of the providers at Cummings Healthcare Facility in Howland. Danny was born May 9, 1937 and was the son of Alvin A. and Viola M. (Lamphier) Day. He grew up in Newburgh and later retired there.

Danny married Mary Ellen Reynolds of Lamoine, Maine in 1956. Dan was a Maine State Forest Ranger for 31 years. Together, the couple raised their four children and enjoyed snowmobiling, scuba diving, gardening, and life on the river. Danny raised English Setters, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and pitching softball.

After retiring from the Forest Service, Danny and Mary moved to Newburgh. They built their dream home on family land, a log cabin, much of which they labored themselves. In retirement, Danny enjoyed being an umpire for the many softball games/tournaments around the state. He enjoyed bowling and traveled as far as Reno, NV for team meets and competitions.
