David Kirkman

April 13, 1949 — March 31, 2023

OLD TOWN - David Bedford Kirkman, 73, passed peacefully from this ‘Reality’ to the ‘Hidden Reality’ March 31, 2023, at his home. He was born April 13,1949, in Aruba, Nederlandse, Antillen.

David immigrated to America in 1966, under the right of ‘jus sanguinis’ and under ‘Jus Soli’, of Holland. Primary education completed at Hargrave in Virginia and Elon College, North Carolina for a year and a half; dropping out in 1969. He drifted down to Southern Pines, North Carolina, employing at Proctor Silex as electroplate inspector. A challenging position, but no future. This resulted to employing at Moore Memorial Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina and enrollment in the associated nursing program; graduating Diploma Nursing in 1973. He ensued a superlative career of 47 years across six states and one commonwealth in multiple clinical specialties; Emergency Trauma, CAT EMI Brain/Body Scanning, Doppler Ultrasound Tektronix Imaging for Neurosurgery, IVT/A/Transducer, MRI, HBO mono/multi and Gould’s Medicare assessment for Community Health and Hospice. He traveled the Caribbean, South America, Holland, America, Canada, Mexico and Europe four times. His dearest and most joyous of passion, aside from nursing, although more like an addiction was meeting and communicating with people from every walk and tier of life. Maine, being one of the states in his life became permanent for some thirty plus years until death; the people he touched became family and the ways, means and culture were as close to the paradise he was born into. The environment was completely opposite of a desert rock at the time in the Caribbean and winters were a joy when they were actually winters. One is not supposed to have ‘favorites’ in life, but his Shepherd dog ‘Angel’ was his favorite hello and the hardest good bye. “My sincere appreciation to all who touched of my person and my life in Maine. It was my pleasure and a heartfelt thanks to everyone. ‘Lang zal hij leven, lang zal hij leven, lang zal hij leven in de glorial’ (long shall he live in, . . .)” – David Kirkman.

“My dream has been everyting I could have asked for and more. It is what I did not dream for in my life time. Why can I not wake up and die” – dbk.
