David Lassell

August 10, 1941 — January 27, 2022

David E. Lassell, 80, went home to be with his Savior January 27, 2022 in Bangor, ME. He was born August, 10, 1941, in Hudson to Roscoe and Pearl (Wade) Lassell. David graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1959. From there he went on to pursue a barbering career from which he cut hair for 59 years. He then attended New Brunswick Bible Institute where he met the love of his life Ada Allen Lassell. While there he was introduced to Newfoundland, Canada where he and Ada served as missionaries under CSSM for 5 years. There his daughter, Leah Lassell Bragdon and son, Matthew Lassell were born. Upon returning to Maine in 1977 they put down their roots in Bradford and he became the pastor of Great Works Baptist Church in Old Town, Maine for 9 years. Also, at that time he took over the barber shop in Corinth, where for the past 44 years he had been best known as “Barber Dave”. He will be remembered for the senior pictures that filled the barber shop walls; a testament to how many young lives he so greatly impacted. He is best remembered for telling these young men, “One dab will do ya, and two the girls will pursue ya” as he applied the talcum powder. Later, along with his barbering career he served in many pastoral roles in the local area, The longest fill in position was for 15 years in the Guildford Center Baptist Church. He was a member of the Bradford Baptist Church for 50+ years and also served as a deacon. There he and Ada formed many close friendships, many of whom became like family to them. David also started a jail ministry in the Piscataquis County area where he ministered for 20+ years. He will be remembered for his sincere thoughtfulness which was portrayed in the many handwritten letters he wrote to the people whose lives he touched. David had a huge heart for service. He is survived by his sisters, Lee Forsythe of Bangor and Gerri Frost of Ellsworth; his wife of 49 years Ada Allen Lassell; and their children Leah Lassell Bragdon and her husband Biff and Matthew Lassell and his wife Jodi both of Corinth; 5 granddaughters, McKenzie and husband JD Goulet, Kacie Bragdon, Katie Bragdon, Maisie Lassell, and Mia Lassell; 2 great grandchildren, Zebulun and Felicity Goulet.
