David Ernest Matthews
David E Matthews, 66, died unexpectedly February 2nd 2022. He was born June 22 1955 in Lowell Massachusetts, the son of Ernest and Priscilla (Clark) Matthews . David attended Shawsheen Valley Technical School in Billerica MA. He married Cassandra the love of his life on September 1, 1979. They had 3 beautiful children and 16 years of marital bliss before Cassandra was taken too soon. David never remarried. David spent part of the 1970’s working for Raytheon. He spent many long nights driving the mail transport truck to northern Maine and back for Shorey Oil Co. He drove truck for B&B Paving. He was a volunteer for Stetson Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years. He started as a pump operator and progressed to chief engineer. He was a dedicated mentor and a really good guy. He started his retirement years as the first driver for his son's company, JDM Trucking LLC. David was a proud member of the Stetson Union Church where he would spend many Wednesday’s and Sunday’s attending bible study. David went on a motorcycle trip of a lifetime accompanied by his brother James Matthews to Virginia sightseeing and traveling to blue ridge parkway. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren attending sports events, riding four wheelers or traveling to Virginia to see them. He spent his last morning doing what he loved most playing with his granddaughter Lillian running through the kitchen in pajamas. He truly loved spending the last several years overlooking his property where in 2020 his farm dream came alive again having a Miniature pony “Bear” and 2 donkeys “Jack Jack and Sherman”. David is survived by his son Justin Matthews and significant other Mary Frascone of Levant, their children Cullen and Lily, His daughter Maranda Matthews and fiancé Jerry, their children Logan and Ceridwen, His daughter Caitlyn Lane and Husband Bruce Lane, their children Connor, Teagan and Kole, His brother James Matthews of Amesbury, Ma. David was predeceased by his loving wife Cassandra, Both parents and sister Nancy Donnelly.
Relatives and Friends are invited to call 12 pm to 2 pm Saturday February 26th 2022 at Stetson Union Church 1059 Mullen Rd Stetson, ME 04488, followed by a funeral service starting at 2pm with pastor David Ray Sr. officiating. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
