NEWBURGH – David O’Donald, 84, passed away peacefully May 29, 2024, in the home he built over half a century ago. He was born August 19, 1939, in Bangor, the son of Norris and Jennie (Giggey) O’Donald.
David graduated from Carmel High School, Class of 1957. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at the Indian Mountain Radar Station, Alaska, until 1963. He met and married the love of his life, Freda, embraced her three children as his own, and then they added three more for an even half-dozen. They celebrated over 48 years of marriage until her passing in 2009.
David worked at Husson College’s Business Department until his retirement in 2007.
David is survived by his children, Tim O’Donald and his friend, Vicky Leclerc, Sarah Dingle and her husband, Matt, Rick O’Donald and his wife, Renee, Cindy Burke and her husband, Joseph, Dana Fogg and Joseph Souza; grandchildren, J.D. Burke, Karen Patterson, Laurie Acetta, Jaime Brisco, Joshua and Caleb O’Donald, Max and Ethan Dingle, Justin Brown, Samantha Ball, Scott, David, Ettiene, and Megan O’Donald; his sister Emily and her husband, Norman; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his daughters, Valerie Fogg and Susie Souza.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
