David N. Pellegrino, passed away on January 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Meriden, Connecticut on December 22, 1943, the son of Alfred and Bernadette (Lagace) Pellegrino.
David grew up in Orono and graduated from Orono High School in 1962. He attended the University of Maine at Orono and graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics and later finished a Master of Business Administration in 1971.

On June 12, 1965, David married Bonnie Sewall. They shared 56 years of marriage and raised three children.

David worked for many years for MSAD 1 Presque Isle and was surrounded by a community of friends. He enjoyed summers outside and winters skiing, snowmobiling, and trying to get the car up the icy driveway. The second half of his career was with the City of Bangor as the Director of Purchasing which moved the family to Hampden.

David loved building and fixing many things. His first long-term project was fixing up a camp on Cross Lake where he was supervised by mice from the ground and bats from the eaves. He turned this hobby into his full-time activity with rental properties after retiring from the City of Bangor. David spent many happy years wintering in Florida and made many special friends with whom he played golf and poker when he didn’t have anything to fix.

David is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bonnie, their children, Sue Hill (Stephen) of Portland, Mike Pellegrino (Tammy) of Brewer, and Angela Richards (Andrew) of Portland. Seven grandchildren, Samantha and Joshua Pellegrino, Anna and Joseph Hill, Owen, Lucas, and Christopher Richards. His brother, Richard Pellegrino, and wife Clarise, as well as several nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Northern Light Home Care and Hospice and Loving Touch in-home care.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Maine Alumni Association, 1 Alumni Place, Orono, ME. 04469.

Graveside service will be held in the spring.
