Debra Holmes

Orono - Debra K. Holmes, 55, passed away unexpectedly October 11, 2013 in the quiet peacefulness of her own home. She was born April 10, 1958 in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of Theodore P. and Beverly (Rogers) Khoury.
Debbie graduated from Orono High School, Class of 1976. Following graduation, Debbie went on to receive her beautician license. Soon after, she met and fell in love with her husband, Rickie A. Holmes. They were married on September 11th, 1982. She enjoyed being a hairdresser and ran “Styles for Success”, out of her own home. She was also involved in the private home care business for many years and provided outstanding care to numerous elderly men and women. She was involved in many community events, most notably was the parking of cars in her driveway for each UMaine hockey game. Debra Holmes was a devoted mother, beloved and spoiling grandmother, loving wife, caring sister and dedicated friend to all who held the privilege of knowing her. Debra held a special place in the hearts of everyone who came to know her.
She is predeceased by her father, Theodore P. Khoury and her beloved dog, Lynnie. In addition to her mother Beverly Beal and husband Larry of Milford; she is survived by her husband, of 31 years, Rickie A. Holmes, by her three children, Eric A. Holmes and his wife, Corinne of Newport, RI; grandchildren Jonathan, Everett and Athena; Khoury L. Holmes of Orono and Phillip A. Holmes of Orono; brothers and sisters, Ted Khoury Jr. ; Anne Heitman and her sons Nick and Chris Heitman; Kimmy Kelley and her husband Randy; and Joe Kennedy. She had a large and loving family many of whom are not mentioned. As anyone who knew Debra knows, she had many close friends. She is survived by Brenda Tarr and her husband Kenny; Dottie Tucker and her husband Terry; Rita Graham; Karen Martin and her husband Toby, and Linda Costigan.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM, Friday, Oct 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Saturday, Oct 19 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 234 French St., Bangor, with Rev. Marguerite A. H. Steadman, Rector, presiding. Interment will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
