Delmont E. Hartt, 86, died November 3, 2016, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born September 26, 1930, in Millinocket, the son of Samuel and Vona (Zinette) Hartt. Delmont was a graduate of Carmel High School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He married Sheila A. Webber on January 6, 1952 and shared 65 wonderful years together. Delmont started Hartt Transportation Inc., in 1948 with one truck hauling pulpwood. He grew Hartt Transportation System Inc. into a family run business, and over the next 60 plus years it became the largest transport company in the State of Maine thanks to his family and the dedicated employees whom he loved dearly. He was a member of the Benevolent Lodge No. 87 of Carmel for over 55 years. He loved his farm on the Horseback Road in Carmel. Delmont spent many happy years on the farm haying and raising a herd of 100 plus cows. Delmont was a faithful, loyal, honest, dedicated, loving, best friend to his children, and a hardworking man who loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Hartt and a sister, Isabelle Osborne. Delmont is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (Webber) Hartt; son Michael G. Hartt and his wife Mary; daughter, Deborah Swan and her husband Robert; daughter Judith E. Hartt and her partner Paul Rogerson; son William A. Hartt and his wife Robin; five grandchildren, Jessica Lovely, Dennis Lovely, Benjamin Hartt, William Hartt and Dale Hartt; three great-grandchildren, Orion, Chase, and Myleigha. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor where a memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 with Pastor Brian Hurst, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street immediately following the service.
