Eddington
Denise Michelle (Stover) Golding, 47, of Eddington, died unexpectedly on the morning of January 27, 2014, as the result of a car accident.
Denise was born on September 23, 1966, in Portsmouth, N.H. to parents David and Donna (DeGraff) Stover.
Denise graduated from Brewer High School and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Maine. Denise taught students in Old Town, Eddington, and Millinocket schools. She also taught in Shenzhen, China, for two years. Denise truly loved working with her students.
Daughter, mother, teacher, friend: Denise was a very talented person loved by all. She had a “bigger than life” personality, volunteering her services to Girl and Boy Scout organizations in the past. More recently, she was volunteering with the Scottish Rites’ Orten Gillingham program.
Denise was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Priscilla DeGraff, paternal grandmother, Gloria Stover, and her aunt, Tina Powell.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Donna (DeGraff) Oliver and Kevin Oliver of Eddington, her father and stepmother, David and Lilo Stover of Waldo; her daughter, Erika Golding and partner, Matt of Orland; sons Jeffrey Golding of Bucksport, Joshua and wife Adalene, of Anchorage, Alaska and Adam Irvine of Eddington; brother Nathan and wife Kelly Stover of Waldo; sister Anje and husband Kenneth Estabrook of Waldo; brother Michael and wife Diana Stover of Waldo; brother Ian Stover of Waldo; sisters Judy Oliver of Ocala, FL, and Teresa Oliver and partner Dave Moyer of Sarasota, FL; Adam’s father, Tom Irvine of Eddington, maternal grandfather, Gilbert DeGraff and wife Betty of Belfast, paternal grandfather, Henry “Kippy” Stover of Belfast , uncles, Peter DeGraff of Bangor, Lawrence DeGraff of Eddington, William DeGraff and wife Sue of Gardiner, Dan Stover of Belfast, as well as her partner, Leonard “Chuck” Stilphen of Eddington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit 2-5 pm. Saturday February 1, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, where a service in celebration of her life, will be held 2 pm. Sunday February 2, 2014, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, officiating. The family invites folks to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor, following the service.
