Derryl “Derry” Colford

Derryl E. Colford, 90, passed away March 4, 2021 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Danforth, July 3, 1930 the son of Francis W. and Lena (Maddocks) Colford.
Derryl served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a member of the 40-34th bomb wing, heavy TAC technical air command airman 1st class. He was employed with BMHI as a mental health worker for more than 25 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, a member of the Maine State Employees Association, the Maine State Retiree Employees and a life member of the John F. Kennedy DAV, Bangor and he was active in the Boy Scouts of America. Derryl was an avid reader, with a love of history.
Surviving are his wife, Carmen (Poulin) Colford, three sons, Douglas E. Colford, Michael R. Colford and his wife Linda, and Andrew J. Colford and his wife Donna; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery.
