Diane T. Harris died February 25, 2022, at a local hospital after a very brief illness. She is now home with our Heavenly Father, and will join her parents and brother in peace.
Diane was born January 12, 1956, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles L. and Mildred T. (Curran) Harris. She graduated from Hermon High School in 1974 and was employed in retail businesses during her work career. Her last position, from which she retired, was 22 years as an administrative assistant at Galt Block Warehouse in Bangor.
Diane will be remembered as a loving and kind person, devoted to her family and friends, and always available to help anyone who needed her. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries, who spent many days at the Bangor Public Library. She requested that her personal collection of books be donated to the library. She also enjoyed the outdoors and worked countless hours in the summer making sure that she had a well manicured lawn and beautiful flowers.
Di loved cats and had two very special ones. The first, Domino, was with her for 15 years until passing. The other, more recent one, was Kallie who she had for 16 years, passing in October 2021. It was a very sad time for her as Kallie had been so much a part of her daily life. The family prays that in some way she will see her again. Di also had a passion for football, especially the New England Patriots, which she shared with family and many friends.
Diane is survived by a sister, Charlene H. Kimball of Brewer; brothers, William J. Harris and his wife, Joyce, of Mesa, Arizona, Thomas B. Harris and his wife, Debbie, of South Portland; niece, Melinda "Mindy" Kane and her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Emily Paige of Brewer; nephews, Jacob "Jake" Harris of Brewer, William J. Harris, Jr. and his wife, Tara, and their son, Brandon of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and Craig Harris of Brewer; and one very special cousin, Edna "Skip" Coeyman of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Also remembered as a very important part of her life is her closest friend of many years, Marlene Aikens. She will be sadly missed by all.
Diane was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Charles L. Harris Jr.
The family wishes to thank the 4th Floor Nurses and CNAs at St. Joseph Hospital for the compassionate and professional care they gave to Diane. We will never forget them in our prayers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the spring. Gifts in her memory may be sent to All Saints Catholic School, 166 State St., Bangor, ME 04401; or to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
