Dianne Marie Gauvin (Soucy), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away amongst family on June 23, 2024, at her favorite place—Lucerne-in-Maine. Born on August 17, 1956, in Bangor, Maine, Dianne lived a life full of love, adventure, and service to others.
Dianne was the cherished wife of David Gauvin, a devoted mother to Troy Trejo and Gabriel Gauvin, and mother-in-law to Sarah Benge Trejo and Haley Gauvin. She was a doting grandmother to Paloma Trejo, Fernando Trejo, and Genevieve Gauvin. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank, Jr. and Mary Soucy, and sister-in-law Ellen Soucy. Dianne is survived by her siblings, Frank Soucy III and Mary Economy, her husband, James Economy, their daughter Natasha Eldridge, and a loving community of family and friends who will carry on her legacy of kindness and warmth.
Dianne lived each day in pursuit of happiness and fulfillment. She raised her children with love and dedication, imparting to them her passion for living life to the fullest and giving them her unwavering confidence and support. Her adventurous spirit led her to live abroad, where she embraced new cultures, fostered strong personal connections, and learned a new language. Dianne's professional and volunteer life was equally rich. She worked alongside her father in the family business, Frank’s Bake Shop, worked as a manager at a local bank, and worked for her high school alma mater, John Bapst, for over 25 years. Dianne served on the boards of The Bangor Corps of the Salvation Army, the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary, and volunteered to further the missions of many other community organizations.
Dianne's kindness knew no bounds. She was a caring friend, and trusted confidant to many. Her deep friendships were a testament to her loving nature. She possessed a legendary talent for cooking and entertaining; making her home the heart of many holiday gatherings that were filled with laughter and joy. Dianne’s home and well-tended garden were nurturing spaces that reflected her generous spirit, and her love of music could transform any space into a lively dance floor that would sweep up family and friends in to memorable nights.
Dianne's life was a vibrant tapestry of fun and love. She was always seeking out joy and new experiences through travel abroad with David and their friends, and spending time with her family. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her. Dianne always arrived with gifts and food regardless of the occasion. Those who knew Dianne developed a love for her and her spirit.
In honor of Dianne's memory, a celebration of life will be held on her birthday, August 17th, 2024, at her home in Brewer, Maine (rain or shine).
