Dianne was born in Bangor, Maine, on April 13, 1952, to the late James E. and Frances E. (Myers) Rustin.
She is survived by two daughters: Denise (John) Hutchins of Taylorsville, Kentucky, and Danielle (Patrick)
Benoit of Eugene, Oregon, three grandchildren: Cameron Emmons, Raymond Benoit, and Katherine
Benoit, her sister-in-law LaVerne Rustin, nephew John (Kaitlin) Rustin, and many other extended family
members. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Darcie Wentworth, and her beloved older
brother, Mark E. Rustin.

Dianne grew up in Old Town and raised her children in Fort Kent, Ashland, and Milford. Dianne’s career
was devoted to healthcare, first as an EMT, Paramedic, and Director of the Ashland Community
Ambulance Service, then with Keegan and Crown Ambulance Services in Presque Isle. While juggling
family and working full-time, she then earned her Practical and Associate Degrees in Nursing from
Northern Maine Technical College in 1995 and 1997, She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s
Hospital and Ross Manor in Bangor and as a traveling nurse in Kentucky, Colorado, Washington, and
California.

Dianne was courageous, passionate, and fiercely protective and supportive of her family, friends, and
medical trainees. She loved country music, her life-long canine, feline, and equine companions, and
shopping on QVC. Her colleagues admired her keen medical skills, dedication and talent for teaching and
mentorship, and composure in crisis; she is described as a great friend with a heart of gold. Her family
has chosen to hold a private burial in the Spring of 2023; donations can be made in Dianne’s memory to
the Lupus Research Alliance or the American Cancer Society.
