Don Ziegenbein

November 14, 1938 — June 30, 2022

Don R. Ziegenbein, 83, passed away June 30, 2022, at a Bangor hospital. He was born November 14, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Ralph and Frederica (Brohn) Ziegenbein.

Don and Nancy were married for nearly 60 years. He attended MIT, transferring to Babson Institute to complete his bachelor's degree in Finance. He then continued at Babson for his master's degree. He pursued his Doctorate at Michigan State.

Don was a longtime professor at University of Maine at Orono in the College of Business. He served as a member of the Maine State Labor Board and as an arbitrator and mediator for many years working with public employee unions all over the state. He served the All Souls community in numerous capacities over a span of nearly 50 years. He also was President of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, as well as supporting the symphony in various other capacities over the years.

Surviving, are his wife, Nancy (Carter) Ziegenbein; sons, Craig Ziegenbein and his fiancée, Kim Lynch, Wilson Ziegenbein and his wife, Joan Patterson; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with Rev. Chad L. Poland pastor and teacher, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church vestry, immediately following the service, Tuesday.
