Donald R. Bailey, 81, of Orrington, ME, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2024, finding eternal comfort in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
Born in Bangor on September 13, 1942, Don's journey was marked by dedication and service. A proud graduate of Bangor High School in 1960, he answered the call to duty and served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. Following his honorable military service, he found fulfillment in a longstanding career at Wights Sporting Goods in Bangor, where his commitment and passion left an enduring impact.
Don's spiritual journey was marked by over two decades of active and devoted membership at the Hermon Baptist Church, where he contributed significantly to the spiritual community he held dear.
He was preceded in death by his father, Verne; his mother, Olive; and his brother, Roy. Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeannette, creating a legacy of enduring love and commitment. He leaves behind a cherished family, including his son, Christopher and wife, Tina; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Chuck; four grandchildren, Justin, Rhianna, Sydney, and Lindsey; and five great-grandchildren, Arabella, Landyn, Evelynn, Vincent, Penelope, and the soon-to-arrive baby, Philbrick. Don is also survived by his sister, Ruth Penney; brother Richard and wife, Gail; as well as dear card-playing friends, Ann, Dave, John, Elaine, Wayne, Dede, and Bobby.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at Hermon Baptist Church in Hermon, on February 10, with visiting at 10 a.m., the service at 11 a.m., and a small reception afterward. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences during this challenging time.
