BANGOR - Donald H. Burgess, 58, passed away unexpectedly September 11th, 2021 at a Bangor Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Don graduated from Hermon High School, class of 1981. Shortly after graduation, Don started his first business, Bangor Drywall. Working all over the country, he later incorporated his business to become B&D Designs. With this business he fabricated custom cabinetry and solid surfaces for petroleum companies worldwide. Don continued to work in construction locally after selling his business in 2004.
Don was an avid golfer, he loved walking the courses with his son-in-law, Kyle. He spent many years racing snowmobiles and made countless friends in the racing community. He earned his pilot's license in 2003. Don loved anything fast. He was known for his quick light times and knew how to fix anything. He loved music and music trivia, “Who sings this?”. He was the jack of all trades and the master of most.
Don is survived by his daughters, Michelle Miller and her husband, Kyle and Ashley DeLuca and her husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Reese, Connor, Cecelia, Elise and Madeleine who he loved very much; his ex-wife Betty; loyal companions, Scooter and Timmy; brother, Robert Burgess and his wife, Trinity, and two sisters, Lisa Brill and Julie Doughty as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Special friends, Jeff Lacombe, Randy Adams, Barry Gallant, Billy Bart and countless others. Don had a way of making everyone laugh and loved cracking jokes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Lewis Doughty and brother, Jeffery.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Don’s life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status. Those who wish to remember Don in a special way may make donations in his memory to thepixelfund.org.
