Donald Guptill

Donald L. Guptill, 88, died September 23, 2022 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Hampden on October 15, 1933 the son of Myrle and Georgia (Phillips) Guptill.

Don attended schools in Hampden and Brewer and was a graduate of Bangor High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Don retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Troop Greeters in Bangor, making as many flights, day or night, as he was able.

Surviving are his wife Gloria A. Guptill of Bangor; his daughter, Susan M. Hawes and her husband Alan R. Hawes of Bangor; stepchildren Libby and Bill Warren of Prospect, Lisa and Steve Treadwell of Carmel, Charmin and Bill Parker of Bucksport, David and Monica Bushey of Hermon and Carl and Devon Crossman of Brewer; a brother, Gordon Brown of Florida; a sister, Beverly Valley of Winterport; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the service. Interment will be private at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers gifts in Don’s memory may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
