EXETER – Donald Louis Hanson, 79, passed away Friday March 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 17, 1934, in Brewer, the son of Arthur Louis and Lottie (Littlefield) Hanson. Donald grew up in Brewer, completing grammar school in Brewer and graduated from Bangor High School in 1953. A few days after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a sergeant. On August 25, 1956 he married Millie Bragg and they would share fifty-seven wonderful years together. He worked for sixteen years for Standard Linen traveling to various locations throughout the state, and then at Eastern Maine Medical Center for seventeen years in medical records. Donald loved to garden and could raise the most beautiful vegetables. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling ten pin. Donald was very proud of his family and treasured every moment with them. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred “Millie” Hanson, a son Timothy Allen Hanson both of Exeter, a daughter Paula Lynn Logan and her husband Donald of Bangor, two grandsons who he loved and enjoyed very much, Matthew and Andrew Logan both of Bangor. He also leaves behind a special cousin Diane (Littlefield) Coose of Hampden and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three sisters, Annie McDonald, Leona Guptill, and Mildred McNaughton. Friends may call 6-8 PM Thursday March 20, 2014 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St. Bangor. A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
