Donald Harvey, Jr.

July 15, 1954 — April 25, 2014

GLENBURN - Donald C. Harvey, 59, died April 25, 2014, at home surrounded by his family after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born July 15, 1954, in Bangor, the son of Donald and Laura (Anderson) Harvey Sr.

Attending schools in Florida and Maine. Don graduated from Hampden Academy in 1972. He was a true entrepreneur. In his earlier years he owned an aluminum siding business, and also a commercial snowplowing business. He moved to Glenburn and started A-1 Auto Sales. Don then operated his own carpentry business building houses and also sold picnic tables and sheds. In 1989 Don started Harvey Trailer Sales, in 2002 he opened Harvey RV's, and in 2007 Don started Truck Works & More. Don enjoyed traveling with his wife across the United States in their motorhome attending NHRA drag races, swapping stories with friends at Nicky's Drive-In, working with his employees, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed truck pulling with his truck "The Iron Chariot". Don was also passionate about his 2014 Corvette.

Don was predeceased by a son, Jarrod Harvey in 2003. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy (Smith) Harvey of Glenburn; his son, Brandon Harvey of Glenburn; daughter-in-law, Teresa Harvey and friend, Andy Cookson; five grandchildren, Hunter Wain, Linzee Doyle, Tyler Harvey, Jarrod Harvey Jr., and Kaden Cookson; special cousins, Mark McPherson and Donna Palmer; close friends, Randy and Lori Gardner, Dana Graves, and Pete Bernard, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends are invited to call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service. Private interment will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Glenburn. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
