BANGOR - Donald C. Lewis III, known to friends and family as “Tripp”, passed away October 1, 2022, at 59, in Bangor. Tripp lived an active life despite many serious health issues. He faced them all with a positive attitude and good spirits.
He attended Bangor schools and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono. He was a member and officer of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and was named a Senior Skull. He enjoyed politics, volunteering for political campaigns starting at age 12, and he held many paid and unpaid positions in the Republican party throughout most of his life. He worked as a product sales manager at Nyle Corporation in Brewer until his health forced him to retire. He enjoyed singing with the Black Bear Men’s Choir and was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church choir in recent years.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary (Gentile) Lewis, and is survived by his father, Donald C. Lewis, Jr. , of Brewer; stepmother, Claudia; sons, Donald IV and his wife, Becky of Mansfield, Massachusetts, and their children, Donald V, Ryan and Addison; son, Geoffrey and his partner, Courtney of Bangor; son, Alistair, his wife, Jordan and their son, Lincoln, all of Bangor; daughter, Elizabeth Whitten and her husband, Mackenzie of Ontario, Canada; his brother, Michael of Arlington, Virginia,; step brothers, David Fogarty of Rexford, New York, and Kevin Fogarty of Bangor, and their sons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor followed by the Rite of Committal at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Following Committal Prayers, relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at St. Mary’s Church Hall.
