HERMON AND PORT ORANGE, FLORIDA - Donna Marie (MacLeod) Cianchette passed away June 6, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor, Maine from complications from Parkinson's disease. She was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 4, 1947, the daughter of Donald MacLeod and Joan (MacDonald) Schenk.
Donna grew up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and graduated from Truro High School in 1966. She graduated from Victoria General Nursing School in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1969. After graduation, she moved to Waterville, Maine and began working at Thayer Hospital. While living in Waterville, she met and married Scott Cianchette. Donna and Scott moved to South Portland, where she worked at Devonshire Manor. They later moved to Millinocket, and Donna worked at Millinocket Hospital. After moving to Hampden, Donna focused her attention on raising her children, frequently volunteering her time as a school nurse, track coach, and both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop leader. Donna returned to nursing in 1994 at Bangor Nursing and Rehab and retired in 2012. Most recently, Donna and Scott resided in Hermon, Maine and Florida.
Donna treasured time spent with her family and loved ones. She especially loved spending time on or near the water, either at the beach or in the pool. Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time on the beaches of her childhood hometown of Antigonish. At her home on Hermon Pond, she spent many hours on the beach, floating in the water, or on sunset boat rides. In recent years, she wintered in Florida, and spent many hours in the pool or walking the beach.
Donna is survived by her husband of 48 years, Scott; children Michael of Hermon; daughter Linda and significant other Jason Frederick of Brewer; grandchildren Shaymus, Kaleb River, Rhiannan, Dominick, and Arabella; brother Jack MacLeod and significant other Angela Chisholm of Lanark, Nova Scotia; and sister Jill MacLeod and husband Giovanni Settimelli of Tirrenia, Italy.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-2PM, June 16th, 2023, at the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 U.S. Rte 2, Hermon, ME with a service following at 2PM. A reception at the church will be held following the service. Graveside services will be held 3PM, August 11th, 2023, at Snow’s Corner Cemetery in Hermon.
