HAMPDEN - Donovan C. “Tibby” Thibodeau, 88, went home unexpectedly to be with his Lord and Savior August 31, 2022, at a Bangor hospital, with family by his side. He was born May 13, 1934, in New Hampshire, the son of Charles F. and Clara M. (Giggey) Thibodeau.
Don graduated from Orono High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. While in the Air Force, he was trained as a computer programmer, and used these programming skills throughout his career, which included Eastern Fine Paper, Dead River, Maine Information Systems, and Bangor Savings Bank. He also served as Post commander at #4633 VFW in Hampden.
Don married Pamela A. Richard August 31, 1968, and they celebrated their 54th anniversary the day of his death. Don and Pam were founding members of Faith Baptist Church, in Orono, where he was the treasurer for 25 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed volunteering at EMMC Heart to Heart, camping, fishing, golfing, and watching sports on TV.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Goodine; and a niece, Barbara Goodine. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Renee Wright and her husband, Jeff, of Saco, Andrea Hastings and her husband, Randy, of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Joshua Wright and his wife, Savanah, of Windham, Mikalah Jensen and her husband, Daniel, of Greer, South Carolina, and Emily Wright, of Saco; and his great-grandchildren, Ava Skye Jensen and Max Gabriel Wright.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church of Orono, 160 Forest Avenue, Orono. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the church immediately following the service. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:30pm at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Ave., Hampden.
