Hudson – Doris Elizabeth (Hamm) Allen, 83, The wife of the late Calvert E. Allen Sr., passed away peacefully April 5, 2021, in Bangor, with her family by her side. She was born August 2, 1937, the daughter of Leeman and Frances (Jellison) Hamm.
Doris loved to work in her flower garden, and she loved her cats and frogs. She also enjoyed working on plastic canvas. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. Doris always sat in the shadows so others could shine, and was conscious of others, helping with no questions asked. She was an amazing lady.
She is survived by her son, Calvert E. Allen Jr., of Hudson; three daughters, Beverly Sands and her husband, Dana, of Hudson, Norma Layton and her boyfriend, Wade Mcalpine, of Hudson, Frances Allen, of Ellsworth; sister, Arlene Bowden; one brother, Arthur Hamm; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her special friends, Leroy and Gayle Hamm.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Calvert Allen Sr.; and sister, Carol Wells.
A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2021, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, officiating. Interment will be held at Hudson Cemetery immediately following the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
